About the artist
Margaret Ulecka-Wilson is a potter, sculptor and painter living and creating in Orange, Connecticut. She was born in Warsaw, Poland where her artistic appreciation began at a young age under the influence of her father, a successful landscape painter. Despite her love for artistic expression she pursued a Master’s degree in Biology and Chemistry, and matriculated from the University of Bridgeport. Her professional career as a scientist instilled dedication to detail and precision as well as a curiosity for the diversity of lifeforms and the unique irregularities of the natural world. The influence of her early career with marine life can be seen in her artwork that explore hidden landscape of modulating forms, undulating colors, and flowing textures.
Throughout her professional life in science Margaret studied art at Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven Ct, where she focused her expression on pottery and clay sculpture. She now continues to create at her co-op studio in Erector Square, New Haven, CT.
Her sculptural pieces have been juried into exhibitions of the New Haven Paint and Clay Club where her work won the 2012 Jarries Prize. Also, as a member of the Elm City Artists, her work is regularly on display at their gallery in New Haven, CT. Margaret serves as a committee member for the Art in the Library program in Orange.
